The Start of the Game

Player control begins with an Ogre Battle tradition, asking a lot of questions. The player can choose to name the main character of the game, Magnus, as well as what element he is associated with. The other questions will determine what starting army and equipment the player will have. A great starting army guide can be found on Ogrebattle64.net by Joshua Lindquist. At the start of the game your chaos frame will be at 50.

Important Choice:

Before Mission 1, Dio will challenge you to a fight. At this time, the only confirmed affect of this choice is the recruitment of Dio. If you fight him and then say "..." later in chapter one, he will leave your army.

Path Diverges:

At this point you have two choices, continue to mission 4 at Mylesia or continue to mission 5 at the Zenobian Boarder.
According to the Chaos Frame Guide, choosing this path will lower your Chaos Frame by 10.

Important Choice:

At the end of the mission you will be presented with a very important choice that will affect the rest of the game. Below are all confirmed outcomes of this choice.
Saying "I can't do it..."
If you make this choice, Destin, Aisha, Saradin, Debonair, Gilbert, or Ankiseth have the possibility of joining your army later in the game. However Biske and Carth cannot be recruited with this choice.
Saying "..."
According to the Chaos Frame Guide, your chaos frame will drop by 20. On top of that the following character will not be obtainable: Destin, Aisha, Saradin, Debonair, Gilbert, or Ankiseth. Dio will also leave your army if you choose to fight him earlier.
The following characters have the possibility of being recruited later: Biske and Carth.
