Building a Bigger Army

After completing any mission in Ogre Battle 64 you are awarded soldiers. A 'unit' of soldiers consists of three men, and as health is depleted the number drops to two, one, and then zero. If soldiers within a unit dies, then the maximum health of the unit decreases accordingly. If this happens, it is suggested to add soldiers back, into units, when ever possible.
Soldiers are the most basic unit in the game, but they have special properties. They are used to create Centurions, and more Fighters/Amazons. To promote a Soldier into a Fighter or Amazon you need Soldiers to fight within missions and earn combat experience. This 'combat experience' can only be gained on the field and not in training. This experience is gained for every battle won. It is important to note, that in order to promote soldiers you need, not only the experience, but extra equipment sets of the Fighter/Amazon.

x1

x4
One Soldier Unit gains 2 Experience for every battle won.
Four Soldier units within one party gain 24 experience for every battle won.

This combat experience is pooled among all soldier units within a party. Once 100 experience is gained, one unit will be transformed into a Fighter or a Amazon. After this, the experience will be reset to zero.
Gender of the soldier is determined by the unit leader. If the unit leader is female, the soldiers will become Amazons and vice-versa. An item called "Ascendant Cross" will reverse the gender, therefore the soldiers will be the opposite gender of the unit leader.
Lastly, the class of Centurion is only available through promoting soldiers. Once one leader have promoted 5 or more soldiers, they class change into a Centurion anytime during or after Chapter 3.
